Here at Pekerau Primary, we offer te reo Mâori in every class throughout the school s so that:

·         There is a positive attitude towards te reo Mâori me ôna tikanga and it is also integrated into other curriculum areas.

·         Students have access to effective effective te reo Mâori language programmes and are confident and experiencing success in learning te reo Mâori.

Every Monday, Whaea  Jeanne visits six classes and delivers a 45 minute lesson developed to link in with the current learning intentions and unit studies of each syndicate.  It is a programme of basic words and phrases, mihi, greetings, maori protocol, myths, and legends, local and regional history, as well as waiata aand some kapahaka.
