Here at Pekerau Primary, we offer te reo Mâori in every class throughout the school so that:

·         There is a positive attitude towards te reo Mâori me ôna tikanga and it is also integrated into other curriculum areas.

·         Students have access to effective Te reo Mâori language programmes and are confident and experiencing success in learning te reo Mâori.

Every Monday, Whaea  Jeanne visits six classes and delivers a 45 minute lesson developed to link in with the current learning intentions and unit studies of each syndicate.  It is a programme of basic words and phrases, mihi, greetings, maori protocol, myths, and legends, local and regional history, as well as waiata aand some kapahaka.
