Through health and physical education students reflect on the nature of wellbeing and how to promote it. They develop resilience and a sense of personal and social responsibility. They are increasingly able to take responsibility for themselves and contribute to the well-being of those around them, of their communities, of their environments, including natural environments, and of the wider society.

Health and Physical Education is structured around 4 conceptual strands each encompassing:

·         Personal Health and Physical Development

·         Movement Concepts and Motor Skills

·         Relationships with Other People

·         Healthy Communities and Environments

All children at Pekerau belong to one of four team houses,
  • Totara
  • Kauri
  • Rimu
  • Pohutakawa.
Regular interhouse competitions take place that allow children to participate in cricket, netball, tabloid and other sporting activities within a fun environment.
Senior and Middle school children participate in Interschool sports events with other local schools taking part in activities such as swimming athletics and Kiwi Sports.
Other children belong to Saturday sport's teams that represent our school in local competitions.
